!!! SALE !!!

SALE: Products at a special price, some with a short best-before-date or in clearance sales due to a change in product range

Here you will find products that we sell at a special price.

One reason is the clearance of products that we are replacing in the range with others. These products are marked with the suffix CLEARANCE.

The marking SALE or SALE-BBD indicate a short shelf life.

Please note the specified best-before date for the products offered here!

Note on the subject of "best before date": The best-before date should not be confused with the use-by date or expiry date. These are used for perishable products and should not be exceeded.

"The best-before date of a food is the date up to which it ‘retains its specific properties under appropriate storage conditions’. A food no longer possesses this specific property if the composition of the food has changed to such an extent that its nutritional effect/composition , for example the vitamin content, if it is particularly emphasized, its enjoyment value, i.e. in smell or taste, or its usefulness (e.g. the ability of the yeast contained to grow) is reduced.

However, the expiry of the best-before date does not mean that the food is automatically depreciated or no longer suitable for consumption."

(Source: Federal Office for Consumer Protection and Food Safety, www.bvl.bund.de, keyword best-before date)

With the timely sale of goods with a very short best-before-date, we try to reduce the tons of food that is created every day because products with an expired best-before date end up in the garbage, even though they could still be eaten. The prime example is olive oil, which by no means goes bad on January 1st of the following year if the best-before date is the end of a year. After all, in earlier centuries, meat and vegetables were preserved in oil to preserve them.

If you are looking for goods with a very short or expired best-before date in our 'Sale' category, please use the word sequences SALE or SALE-BBD in the product search.
